In what seems to be a month of exhibitions and expos, more than half a dozen so far in the first two weeks of August alone, Image Today was touted as a 'Signage and Photo Exhibition'.  It was on from 10^th to 12^th August at the Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam.

Image today was targeted at the corporate bigwigs, Marketing managers, Signage and Graphics companies, Advertising Agencies, ad film makers, printers, photo-labs, videographers and the like.  The sea change that has come about in Information, Communication and Presentation technologies was on display at the exhibition with a whole new range of imaging technologies, processors, consumables and peripherals.  The latest developments in various areas, from video to celluloid, multi-media to signage were showcased at the exhibition.

The signage and graphics companies, printers and photo labs had a variety of choice when it came to signage and imaging technologies.  Netprinter 812, a digital printer from Gretag with its fibre optic imaging system and variable resolution, Phil Digital Passport system, the Durst series of printers that come with the latest in fibre-optic and digital laser technology, Durst scanners capable of high resolution scanning up to 2500 dpi and Aver Magic Pro software were some of the highlights of the exhibition.

Binding, lamination and shredding systems, digital duplicators, binding and lamination consumables from GBC Modi Corporation, sign systems, glow signs, point of purchase displays and dispensers from Anant Trading Corporation also attracted a lot of attention from corporate visitors.  GBC Modi Corp. personnel at the stall said that many commercial establishments and offices were interested in these products, as these were useful for documentation and for better presentation to a client. 

Other products on display catered to the needs of professional videographers and printers, like, Video Post Production, Slide and Film Production, Frames and Photo Albums, Professional Camera and Lighting Systems, Plotters, Large Format Digital Printers, Cutting Equipments, Engraving Equipments, Printing Consumables, Vinyls, Papers and Substrates, Pre-press and Reprographics.

Image Today was definitely not for the amateur or professional photographer, except for the workshops that were conducted at the venue of the exhibition and a few stalls showcasing lenses, lighting systems and spare parts for cameras.  The few cameras on display were of the digital variety. There were however a couple of workshops on Table top photography and Fashion photography by noted lensmen Girish Kyamal and Manikantan.

Image Today was organised by Buysell Interactions, who have 15 years of experience in servicing advertising agencies, photographers, corporates, MNCs, private and public sector organisations, film industry, government sectors and so on.
