Established twenty years ago by Rashid Mar, Cottage Industries Exposition Private Limited, (CIE) is one of Chennai's leading emporia for handicrafts. Among the handicrafts on display are wooden furniture, bronze statues and Kashmiri carpets. They also manufacture and export Kashmiri carpets.

Centrally located, with ample parking space, CIE offers the discerning buyer a pleasant ambience, enhanced by aesthetically designed interiors. Handicrafts from all parts of India are available here. CIE also has branches in major cities all over India

CRAFTS AND WEAVES

Lovely cane baskets, designer terracotta items, brightly painted pottery, papier mache masks - does this excite you?

Then, Crafts and Weaves, is your special treasure trove.

Started by Matangi three years ago, the shop is designed to look like a home, making you comfortable instantly. She sources handicrafts from all over the country.

The section for children is quite delightful. It has bunk beds, furniture in pine wood, games, stuffed toys specially made in cotton, books for children by Indian publishers and much more.

Also available are contemporary paintings done by upcoming artists. Charcoal paintings, ancient Worli paintings ( a tribal art from Maharashtra), Tanjore paintings (paintings embellished with tiny gold ornaments) and Tanjore glass paintings.

Cute string purses with tiny beads, coasters decorated with real leaves and flowers, aromatic candles, metal trays, crockery and colourful pottery are some more attractions found here. They have terracotta pieces and some special designer terracotta items, metal items, wooden crafts, hand-painted coasters, coffee tables and Lord Ganesha's idols in wood, ceramics and terracotta.

They also stock handlooms in cotton, bedspreads, cushion covers, dhurries (mats) from Andhra Pradesh, and quilts.
