ART EXHIBITION - A Review
An
exhibition of paintings by M. X. Susai Raj and B. G. Magendran
is on at Vinyasa Art Gallery from August 16th to 21st.
Susai Raj has been conducting exhibitions from 1963. His
works have adorned many galleries across the country. He is also
the recipient of many awards and prizes.
His paintings in the Vinyasa, are mainly semi-abstract, with subtle
colour shadings." My work", he says, "is usually
based on Indian culture and about the common man." One of his
masterpieces was a painting on freedom fighters, which was exhibited
at the National Exhibition of Art, New Delhi. In his words,
" A painting should get the message across to people."
Magendran
has been exhibiting his works from 1979. He is also a renowned
art director in Tamil film industry.
His paintings are an explosion of colours, with predominant usage
of orange and red. His paintings are abstract, with vivid colour
shadings. Infact, his works are a contrast to Susai Raj's more subtle
paintings.
Both the artists have very distinct styles. Infact, when you enter
the exhibition hall, you can instantly tell the difference.
