One of the most respected names in the Indian two-wheeler market,
TVS Suzuki kickstarted the moped revolution in the country
in 1980, with the first two-seater moped - the TVS 50, manufactured
at the Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu. The man responsible for this
- the founder of the Sundaram Clayton Group, the late T.S.
Srinivasan. It was his vision "to design, develop and
produce an affordable moped for the Indian family", that
gave the company its direction.
In
1996-97, TVS Suzuki was awarded the prestigious 'Emerging Giant
Award' by the Economic Times and Harvard Business School
Association of India. Under the guidance of Chairman and Managing
Director Venu Srinivasan, the company touched Rs 767 crore
in turnover (April-August 2000). Besides maintaining its leadership
in the Scooterette category (with TVS Scooty) and in the
moped category (with over 50% of the moped market share), the
company is now focusing on new model launches covering all the three
segments of motor-cycle, moped and scooter.
Total Quality Control is the mantra of the organisation; manifest
right from manufacturing processes to employee training.
'Team TVS' - for races and rallys in the country, has been
a consistent winner on the track.
