Toyota
Kirloskar Motor Ltd (TKML)
announced the launch of a brand new model of QUALIS on September
07, 2002 at the Taj West End. Adding more luxurious features to
the New Qualis and enhancing its elegant looks, the new eye-catching
model offers a unique combination of Style, Comfort and Luxury
with unmatched Power designed to make a personality statement
about its discerning customer.
While launching the model,
Mr Sachio Yamazaki, Managing Director said "Toyota
believes that driving should be an exquisite pleasure for its customers
and hence plans its models after careful study of their continuously
evolving needs and preferences." The new model will reinforce
the brand equity of QUALIS in the MPV segment as a leader, both
in terms of performance and looks .
Designed with exquisite style and comfort along with luxury and
value formoney all with Toyota's world renowned quality, it is high
on style and
elegance, courtesy its all new appearance starting from a bold new
chrome grill, sleeker aerodynamics, resin bonded front and rear
bumpers and the ruggedoverfenders. Available in a range of exciting
colours and two-toned variants that include Green Metallic, Beige,
Red Mica, Metal, Silver Metallic, White and Turquoise, it also comes
in 2 engine variants - RZ-E (petrol-1998cc) arguably the quietest
engine on the Indian roads today and the economical 2L (diesel-2446cc),
a rugged, fuel-efficient and maintenance-free performer.
Talking about the new
QUALIS, Mr K K Swamy, Dy Managing Director - Toyota Motor Corporation,
said "The new QUALIS reinforces Toyota's commitment towards
providing its Indian customers world-class comfort and convenience
and make their QUALIS experience memorable. We are confident of
gaining a larger share in the Indian MPV market segment with this
launch".
The interiors
of the new
QUALIS have also been given a complete makeover, giving it a feel
of the luxury car. Now it has luxurious captain seats with armrests
in the second row, power windows on all the four windows, exquisite
wood panelling on the dashboard and an ergonomically designed power
window control panel. The meters light up in vivid blue that are
easier to read. There is also a centrally controlled door lock system.
Mr Ezaki, Chief Engineer,
Product Planning Division emphasized that a lot of research
had gone into the development of this model with every design innovation
being made keeping the comfort and convenience of the customer in
mind.
The customer also has
a choice between the comfortable 7-seat arrangement, a flexible
8-seat arrangement or a passenger carrying maximum capacity of 10
seats. Apart from this it has elaborate safety features including
impact-absorbing crumple zones and a high-integrity cabin, it also
incorporates side impact beams in doors for crash protection and
childproof locks on the rear doors
Ever
since TKML was set up in India in October 1997, the company has
maintained an impeccable reputation as a quality car manufacturer.
The QUALIS was launched in January 2000 and has sold more than 65,000
units till date.
Toyota's success can be attributed to its network of 40 exclusive
