Located in a cute little corner at the basement of 'Amble Side' at Khader Nawaz Khan Road is, The Bath Twirl-Towliya; the shop that deals exclusively in bath towels. And what is the reason for this unique and rare concept, that too in a conventional market like Chennai, to become a huge hit, in spite of being just three months into business? The reason being the good quality products offered at an affordable price and the customised service offered by Nabila Awais, who runs the outlet.

Nabila sells an exclusive range of laced, embroidered and plain towels, bath robes, bath mats, co-ordinated sets, kiddy towels, kitchen towels, wash cloths and hair ties in attractive colours and sizes. Brought up and married into a textile family, textiles are a passion for Nabila. She started off with helping her husband with choosing colours and dyes in his factory, which manufactures towels for exporting purposes. And later started lacing, monograming and appliqueing the surplus towels from her husband's factory for friends and relatives, for which she got rave reviews. She piled up quite a collection and decided to have a sale. Some five years back she had her first sale under the name of Bath Twirl, which was a tremendous hit. Going by its success she decided to have her second sale, which again was very successful and the name Bath Twirl became quite well known in Chennai. So she decided to start a full-fledged store, by the same name.

What Bath Twirl offers is good quality products at very affordable prices. Also the store's USP is the customisation that it offers. "We want to work with the customers and provide personalised service. We customise our offerings depending on the client's needs. Some want it monogramed or some motif added to match the bathroom tiles. So what we are selling is a whole concept. We want to make a difference with bath linen.", says Nabila.

Bath Twirl have introduced some first time products like the now famous hair ties into the market. These hair ties are towels that sit on your head and can be twisted and secured at the top of the head -very useful to dry wet hair. Their other innovative products are the velcrowed towels for kids and their exclusive laced towels. Nabila says that they use only azo-free dyes for their colours. Azo-free dyes are highly resistant to temperature. The colours that you find at Bath Twirl are exclusively created. Nabila also takes up Trouseau orders, the complete set includes, robes, towels, slippers and a shampoo bag.

Black, red and navy are the latest colours that she has introduced. Nabila also plans to come up with a special collection for christmas, quaintly named as, 'Home for the holidays' and another collection based on marine life and sea animals, which she has named as, 'Catch of the day'.

Nabila is enthused about the tremendous response her store has got so far. According to her, people in Chennai are really not bothered about the price, as long as the product is good. They look for quality and are very value conscious.
