RAMCO SYSTEMS TO PARTNER WITH BOEING

Ramco SysytemsRamco Systems has announced a partnership with The Boeing Company, to develop and market Enterprise Maintenance Systems, for the global aviation industry. Announcing the partnership, the President of Ramco Systems, Lakshmi Narasimhan, said that the Boeing Company plans to market the Enterprise Maintenance Systems, under the brand name Enterprise One. This partnership, he added, is an exclusive arrangement for the next fifteen years, renewable every five years. Boeing can choose to move away at the end of the five year arrangement.

Outlining the arrangement, Lakshmi Narasimhan said, that the product specification will come from Boeing, as also the marketing and sales of the product. Ramco will take care of the pre-sales support, product development, technical platform, implementation and product support.

Boeing apparently, evaluated 500 products across three continents, before choosing Ramco for its product strength, customer commitment and superior technology. The applications supplied by Ramco are built on its component-based software development platform called RamcoVirtualWorks.

Lakshmi NarasimhanThis partnership is to deliver a total enterprise maintenance solution to the airline industry; covering all the areas of engineering, maintenance, logistics, inventory and procurement functions. The advantages of using this solution are increased aircraft utilisation, lower inventory costs and improvement in overall business processes.

For this purpose the Company is also embarking on a value net partnership programme with Sun, IBM and other technology providers. The reason for this according to Lakshmi Narasimhan is "our framework should work not only with Microsoft technology, but also in other platforms". Ramco is expecting 60% of its revenue to come from software services and 40% from software products and components. Also, 70% of this is expected to come from their partners and 30% directly.
