How many people take earthing seriously? The answer is a miniscule few. Earthing can make the difference between life and death.  It is necessary for preventing electricity related accidents, like shocks and fire.  But earthing is obviously the most neglected issue, since people think that just a foot of pipe with charcoal and salt thrown around it, is enough.  People see investing in proper earthing devices as an unnecessary expenditure.  Even if they do take it seriously and follow the traditional method of earthing, still there is a risk because they do not inspect it afterwards.

Usually Galvanised Iron (GI) pipes or plates are used as earthing electrodes and GI wire is used as the earth connection.  The earthing electrodes are eaten away because of corrosion due to salts and bimetallic corrosion. Exposure to air results in total corrosion and breaking off of the earthing connection.  Enter ASHLOK'S Safe Earthing Electrode (SEE) with its unique 'Pipe-in-Pipe' technology that prevents this from happening.  Costing just a little over what a traditional earthing system done in a proper manner would, ASHLOK'S SEE claims to be a 'fit it, forget it' measure.

ASHLOK'S Safe Earthing Electrodes are manufactured in Chennai.  We spoke to AshokTripathy of ASHLOK about this revolutionary device, which he calls 'SEEriously Immortal'.  "The product, which is 'patent-pending' worldwide has been tested and certified by an independent testing authority - Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Bangalore and Central Electrical Testing Laboratory (CETL), Kakkalur.  It is available in two models 'Type - 19' for LT applications (125V to 650V) and 'Type - 39' for HT applications (651 V upwards).  The device enjoys many advantages over the traditional method of earthing.  The most important being that there are two pipes, so that the electrode is not in direct contact with the soil and this does away with the problem of corrosion.  Another important feature is that the surface area is more, which means that short circuit current is distributed faster.  The Galvanization is also more than adequate.  We use hot dip method of galvanization, which ensures that the pipes are completely galvanized" said Ashok Tripathy.

ASHLOK is probably the only company in India and probably the world according to Ashok that sells an earthing device as a product.  The company has adopted a 'direct marketing' approach, as it is relatively new technology.  Ashok evinced that it was just a matter of time before the product became widely accepted, once organisations like Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) approve its usage in all their buildings and substations.

ASHLOK is distributing the device nationwide through distributors in five major cities.  Presently, clients who used ASHLOK'S SEE in Chennai include Tidel Park, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research  (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Bharat Electronics Limited, Chennai Port Trust, TNEB, Tube Investments of India, IIT Madras, TVS Group, Larsen & Toubro (ECC Division), Chennai Airport among others.
