Meet
Geeta Vishwanathan an entrepreneur, an image consultant and
a veteran of all sorts who started her entrepreneurial venture at
a young age.
For her the main motivational factor was her husband. She had an
opportunity to travel with her husband to some interior parts of
rural India. This facilitated her to acquire the nuances of various
crafts that were a specialist of areas including aari, Kasoti and
Kutch embroidery.
In 1985 she branded into the business world and started her establishment
from her residence. Eventually, it signaled the advent of Preyasi,
a leading fashion house in the city. Today it boasts of a clientele
spread out in more than 48 countries.
Now Preyasi has ventured into the education aspect of fashion designing.
Called Srijathi, the school endeavours to provide hands on
experience to students and also grooms them to manage the fashion
world.
The school not only craves to churn out designers, but qualified
professionals who know intricacies of the profession.
The entrepreneur always continue to explore new avenues, one that
is lined up is a workshop for young children due to be held in summer.
The workshop intends to instill discipline in children and teach
them the benefits of yearlong planning with regards to their shopping.
Apart from fashion business, she is also been practicing as an
image consultant. In this role, she is been counseling people from
different backgrounds and culture.
She is also the president of marketing organization of Women Entrepreneurs,
a non-profit institution that has groomed over 286 women entrepreneurs
under her leadership. Besides she is also the General Secretary
of the Indo-Australian Friendship Association.
