Point in Chennai (affiliated to Pivot Point International -
world leaders in hair and beauty education, with 2,000 schools across
52 countries) was established by Blossom Kochhar (one of
India's leading Beauticians) and Loretta Maria. With an area
of 6,000 square feet, Pivot Point is equipped with the latest beauty
facilities and has over 200 students.
This centre offers training in the latest styles in hair sculpting,
styling, perming, colouring, beauty care and make-up, taught with
a scientific approach. It attracts students from all parts of the
country, plus those from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Pakistan
and Afghanistan.
 Spacious
interiors, quality teaching methods, clean and neat surroundings
are some of the highlights of the centre. There are separate rooms
for advance hair cutting, makeup and beauty therapies. Each student
is given a separate plastic hair model to practise on hair cuts.
Programmes are based on a multi-sensory approach, with step-by-step
modular learning system and audio-visual inputs. According to Loretta
Maria, Pivot Point gives practical and scientific hands-on training
to its students. All training aids are sourced from Hong Kong.
 Pivot
Point also conducts regular workshops in various parts of Tamil
Nadu like Salem, Coimbatore and Erode to spread beauty awareness.
Maria also says that 'even though we are only two years old,
the response has been very good. Once in two months we have workshops
conducted by Blossom Kochchar. And these workshops run to a full
house. Most of the parlour owners in Chennai come to these workshops
to pick up the latest tips'.
Talking about the latest trends, Maria said that every six months
we get an update from Chicago on the latest cuts, make-up etc.
On successful completion of the courses, the students will get
a foreign diploma certificate issued from Pivot Point International,
Chicago, USA. The certificate is recognised world wide.
