Samantha Kochhar, one of India's leading Make-up
artists and daughter of famous aromatherapist Blossom Kochhar,
spoke to www.chennaibest.com on beauty care.
How
fashion or beauty conscious do you think Chennai women are?
I have seen a lot of attractive ladies in Chennai. They are evolving
fast, no doubt about it. Chennai is a mix of cultures and they portray
it very well.
What do you think influences the make-up scene
in Chennai?
See, in Delhi or Mumbai people are influenced a lot by the glamorous
world of Movie stars and models. Here, people are simpler and not
swayed much by glamour. Looking pretty counts here, not looking
jazzy or glamorous.
What are the latest trends in make-up?
The colours that are dominating the current make-up scene are
- Charcoal grey, navy blue, browns, maroons and fuchsia pink. A
smoky look around the eyes is in vogue. Accessories for the face
like Swarovski crystals, strip-on eye lashes are very much
in demand.
Indian make-up is influenced by Global trends
or vice versa, what is your view?
In
India, with the arrival of many MNCs, the Indian fashion scene has
made a strong impact in the international arena. Yes, our trends
are catching on fast in the global scene.
For an office-going lady, what essential things
should she carry for her make-up needs?
A concealer, powder, blusher and a little lipgloss. That is all
you need to look smart.
What sort of colours go well with a dusky
complexion?
Burgundy, maroons and reds. Please avoid the screaming pinks.
In a place like Chennai, how do dark complexioned
women enhance their beauty?
Dark is beautiful. A lot of top, sought-after models in Mumbai
and Delhi are dark. So, the lovely ladies here, instead of trying
to look fairer, should work with their skin tone and enhance their
natural beauty.
