To celebrate the occasion of Women's day, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) launched an exclusive Insurance scheme especially for women, which understands her and covers her accordingly, called the 'Jeevan Bharati'.

This exclusive policy is targeted at women in the age group of 18-50 years, in fixed time terms of 15 to 20 years, with a sum assured ranging from Rs. 50,000 to 25 lakhs in multiples of Rs. 5,000. This life cover continues despite the non-payment of premium for a limited period.

With an annual premium payment approach, the policy provides for payment of 20 per cent of sum assured at the end of five and 10 years in case of 15 years policy and at the end of five, 10 and 15 years in the case of 20 years policy.

The policy provides for Female Critical Illness Benefits upto Rs. two lakhs as well as Congenital Disability Benefits for newborn children upto Rs. one lakh.
In case of death of policyholder during the term of the policy, basic sum assured along with guaranteed additions and reversionary bonuses is payable irrespective of survival benefits paid earlier.

Besides, a free risk cover for basic sum assured for three years in case of premium defaults, option to receive maturity proceeds in annuity forms are some of the other features of the policy.
