PARAMOUNT RESTAURANT

A classic combination of affordable prices, quality food and superb ambience has made the Paramount Group of restaurants a well-known name among the populace of Anna Nagar, Kilpauk, Aminjikarai and nearby localities.  One can judge this on the basis of the crowds outside awaiting their turn to get inside, on most weekends, to have an excellent repast.

Paramount RestaurantThe group, headed by Managing Director, Altaf Hussain, operates three restaurants - Hotel Paramount at Kilpauk, Paramount Restaurant at Anna Nagar and Hotel Paradise at Aminjikarai.  The restaurants serve Indian, Chinese and Tandoori cuisine and the menus at the three outlets are almost the same, save for slight differences in prices.

The Kilpauk restaurant the first to be opened, in 1991 was followed by one at Anna Nagar in December 1995, while Paradise was acquired as recently as November 2000.  The Anna Nagar eatery is fully air-conditioned; the other two have non air-conditioned sections as well.

Paramount RestaurantK Santhanakrishnan, Restaurant Manager, says the popularity of their eateries is due to the fact that patrons have continuously got good service and a pleasant atmosphere with nominal prices.  To highlight this, he points out, "A dish of 'butter chicken masala' is priced at only Rs 58/- at our restaurant, but at other similar outlets it would be at least Rs 75/-.  And the floor is handled professionally, we do not have just servers but order-takers, senior and junior waiters, and a section supervisor".

Lunchtime clientele consists mostly of office-goers, whereas in the evenings it is time for the families to take over.  Middle-class and upper middle-class people form the majority of the customer base for the Paramount group.  Some special features of the restaurants include 'basmati rice' being used for all biriyanis, pulaos and fried rice varieties, and a choice of raw and boiled rice for meals. A meal for two would on an average cost Rs 200/-.

Paramount RestaurantAt the Anna Nagar Paramount, there is a unique facility not offered in most eat-outs, between 3 p.m. (when the restaurants close after lunchtime) and 6.30 p.m. (when the restaurants reopen for dinner), one can still have a missed lunch.  A small section has been assigned for this time on the ground floor so as to save resources and manpower.

Customer-driven approach in pricing, good service and introduction of new features makes for a satisfying eating experience at any restaurant of the Paramount group.
