There really is no right way or wrong way
to trim a Christmas tree. It can be as ornate or as simple as you
like.
First decide the place where you want to set the tree up. It
should remain in one place throughout the season. It is not
a good idea moving it once the decorations have been put up.
Sometimes branches get flattened during transport and storage.
If this happens, straighten them and make sure they are fully
"fluffed."
Avoid keeping the tree near sources of drafts or heat.
Water and clean the tree before you begin decorating it.
Before you put up the lights, test them to verify that they
are working. The plug must easily reach an outlet.
When stringing up the lights, begin at the top of the tree
and work your way down.
You can decorate the tree with the ornaments of your choice.
Colourful garlands and tinsel look lovely. Homemade decorations,
besides being fun to make, add a personal touch.
A special ornament is usually placed at the very top of the
tree. Popular choices are angels or stars.
Sweep up pine needles that may have withered from under the
tree.
Take care to turn lights off when you leave the house or go
to bed.
