Genesis of the Association...
This is the only association for the opticians in the city. It
was formed in 1943. No single person is credited with the formation
of this association. A few enterprising ophthalmologists grouped
together to form the Madras Opticians Association. They wanted
to promote and preserve the common interests of the opticians in
the city.
Objectives...
This association is intended to give group protection to the opticians
in the city. The Association comes to the rescue of opticians in
case they encounter any problems. We usually help them settle their
problems. For instance, we send representations, for the removal
of the sale tax, to the government. Our primary aim is to help the
optical industry in Chennai. Earlier, we were approached for a lot
of problems. Now it has come down.
Eligibility
Any optician in the city is eligible to become a member of the
Association.
Membership Fees
Rs. 2500/- for life membership and Rs. 200/- is the entrance fee.

Approximately 350.

Shop in Chennai
I would say that an ideal investment would be Rs. 10 lakh.
Rating Chennai, in terms of eye care treatment
I would rate Chennai on par with other metros in the country. In
fact, Chennai is the preferred destination for eye care in the country.
