MEDICAL MISSION
For
the last 17 years there has been only one hospital that has offered
the best in Cardiac Care in the country. The hospital is none other
than the Institute of Cardio -Vascular Diseases better known
as the Madras Medical Mission (MMM). The hospital has many
firsts to its credit and is furnished with the latest infrastructure
- the best in the country. The latest from MMM is the Paediatric
Cardiology Unit. Other facilities include Fetal Echocardiology
and the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
With a well-experienced and equipped staff, MMM
has extended its services outside the country as well. Members of
the SAARC countries can recommend one patient each from their
country for free treatment. They are also tied up with BITS Pilani,
from where students come to undergo training at MMM.

SANKARA
NETHRALAYA
The
first eye hospital in Asia to receive the ISO-9002 certification,
Sankara Nethralaya is the brainchild of Dr S. S. Badrinath
(Chairman, Medical Research Foundation and recipient of the Padma
Bhushan award).
Founded in 1978, the hospital provides the best
of ophthalmic care, with cutting-edge technology and trained professionals.
Among its several firsts in the country, the hospital was the first
to introduce Ultrasound Bio-microscopy. It was also the first in
the country, to bring out a Report on Ocular involvement in AIDS.
Its research wing is involved in molecular biology research that
helps in early detection of infectious agents.
Significantly, Sankara Nethralaya is a charitable,
non-profit organisation where almost half of all patients are treated
free.
