Once at an industrial exhibition the Production Manager of a leading
industrial group's division saw for the first time in his life,
a 'universal joint', that could rotate 45 degrees. At that
time he was using local ones, which would not rotate even close
to 20 degrees and lasted just about 3 months. He was so impressed
with it that he placed an order for 60 units. The company
supplying the product had to tell him that he would not need so
many units because the products had a very long life. He was
not convinced when he bought 30 units after placing an order for
60 units. The units were guaranteed to last for a minimum
life of 8,000 working hours. But the 30 units that he bought
lasted for two and half years -10 times the life of the locally
made product.
Production Manager went on to highlight the satisfactory life of
this product at the Group Company's meeting. He talked about how
it had helped the company save money and achieve better efficiency.
Today, the whole of this reputed automobile ancillary source all
their mechanical power transmission needs from Trade Link Services
(TLS), which has brought to India various mechanical power transmission
engineering components from leading European manufacturers.
Thanks to the international quality that they have brought to India,
their client list reads like a who's who of Indian industry - TISCO,
Jamshedpur, Essel Propack Ltd, L & T of Mumbai,
Loesche India / Enexco Teknologies of New Delhi, TVS /
Rane group, Fenner (I) Ltd of Chennai just to mention
a few.
Michael
X Gomez, is the brain behind Trade Link Services. An engineering
graduate with many years of experience as Product Manager with Fenner
India, he established the company in 1987 after he left Fenner.
He specifically did not want to be just a dealer, the reason why
he chose to classify himself as a distributor. "That way
we get to have the challenge of marketing these products and providing
value added services to our clients. Different applications
need different products, so we study the applications of our clients
and then recommend what they need. We also adapt and incorporate
our mechanical power transmission products into the client's system.
For example, a client may need a smaller bore, so we import solid
hubs and bore the holes according to the client's requirements.
This saves our customers not only time, but also money. We also
have excellent technical backup service from our principals who
are leaders in their respective fields. As far as after sales
services is concerned, we have an experienced team of engineers
at Chennai and other locations" he says.
TLS's product profile includes Keyless Bushes from ETP, Sweden,
Mechanical Clamping Units from Tollok, Italy, Universal Joints
from Rotar, Italy, Special chain from MCV, Italy,
Poly V Belts from Hutchinson, France, Metal Bellow Couplings
from Rodoflex, Italy and Epicyclic Gear System from Transtecno,
Italy. TLS, with a sales turnover of Rs 1.30 crore per annum has
become a force to reckon with in the field of mechanical power transmission
engineering.
