THRILLS
OF A SUNDAY MORNING
Sunday
morning, the peace and quiet of the sleepy suburb of Meenambakkam
was shattered by high-powered thrills and spills of the MRF National
Motocross Championship. The airport stadium was transformed
into a dirt track, where novices on Yamahas and Shoguns
and experts on imported Suzuki RM - 125s showed off their
skills.
The large gathering at the stadium was treated to some gripping
action, when seasoned riders Zubin Patel and Nippender
Jassy, both of TVS Racing, brought the track alive with
some excellent manoeuvring around the tricky 600-metre track. Eventually
Zubin and Nippender won five races between them.
The Local Boys novice class was also tightly contested, an indication
of the raw talent available untapped. Local boy V. S. Emmanuel
was the pick of the lot, winning two of the events.
R Srinivas of Pacer Yamaha team, dominated the novice
Indian motorcycles by winning both the races. All the races were
exciting as the competition around the curves was intense. The Suzuki
RM - 125s were a treat to watch, with their superior power and excellent
maneuverability.
