NRITHYODAYA
 Founded
in 1942, by Director K. Subrahmanyam, Nirthyodaya is a dance
school run by Dr Padma Subrahmanyam at Gandhi Nagar, Adyar.
The school caters to students aged 7 years and above. Aspirants
have to take up an aptitude test for admission. Preference is given
for students coming from lower middle class and middle class families.
Classes are free for those who, in the opinion of the institution,
deserve such help.
 Training,
research, performances and documentation are the core areas of activity.
The school organises Gurukula-styled camps periodically. The hallmark
of the institute is that the students have to compulsorily learn
Music, Sanskrit and Yoga. A separate class deals with Vedic Heritage
as well as basic values in life.

THE HOT
SHOE DANCE COMPANY
Have you ever felt embarrassed when you could not dance to a popular
Latin-American tune at a friend's party? That your feet fumbled
when you tried the Foxtrot or the Tango? Well Jeffry
Vardon and his Hot Shoe Dance Company of Chennai are
here to waltz your worries away. Jeffry is an expert dancer
with over 12 years' experience in Classical, Modern and Alternative
Dance styles. A uniquely talented person, he has trained in Ballet
and Bharatanatyam. He strongly believes that grounding in
Indian dance is a must for anyone who wants to learn various other
dance forms. The Hot Shoe Dance Company has experienced trainers
who are students of Jeffry.
Jeffry believes that professional dancing is a talent possessed
by the gifted, but he also believes that anyone can learn to dance.
Jazz, Tap-dancing, Hip-Hop, Line-dancing, Samba, Cuban Rumba,
Cha-cha, Jive, Paso Doble, Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep and Tango
are all taught here. Classes are at three centres - Kotturpuram,
Nungambakkam and Anna Nagar. Anyone above the age of three can enrol
and there are separate batches for children and adults. Contact
