JAMMIN' AT THE LIVE 1O1

Last Friday at the Live 1o1 was a 'Various Artistes' party at the Vineyard Centre.  The stage was literally jammed with musicians right from the start, with the music taking different tolls throughout the show.

Live 1o1The 'Open Jam Nite' began with Keith Peters and his usual striking performance on the bass.  His surprises this time was not only with the music, but the two new fresh faces with him onstage.  On the vocals was 19-year-old Feni D'Costa and on the drums was 8-year-old Elwin.

After them, 'Dr Jekyll' a new name on the 'band scene' took the stage.  Though the name sounds new, the band has on display the unseen side of Mario on the vocals and guitars, Shayne on the lead with Robyn on drums.  Mario had the spirit going even when he later joined the Vineyard School of Music Tutors Band with Saroop Matthew on the keyboard, Ranjith on the drums and Praveen George on the bass with his own compsitions.

Soapbox

What followed next was an, 'offer that couldn't be refused'.  MC Rohit Jayakaran kicked off the 'Soapbox' with the topic, 'Corruption - Making an offer that can't be refused'.  The heat was on, right from the start with attacks and counter attacks!  There were comments that set the mind ticking and those that set the crowd laughing.  It was serious fun, alright!

No IdeaAfter the Soapbox came 'No Idea' with Nandita on the vocals, Mahiar on the bass, guitarist Aum and Donny, drummer Rodney and Prithvi on the keyboard.  After rocking hard, Nandita mellowed down for Whitney Houston's 'I'll always love you' for which she joined up with Keith Peters, Ranjith, Shayne and Prithvi. After that more jam sessions with more fun for the crowd.  The finale was the MI:2 theme from Limp Bizkit.

Live 1o1 next week

August 10th will be a 'musical trip around the globe'.  Live 1o1 will feature a Contemporary Folk Music Nite, covering music from South America, France, Africa and from India.  Bonnie, the brain behind the concept for the Comtemporary Folk Music Nite who will be on the vocals will also be doing a lot of percussion.  Balu on the tabla, Donan on the guitars and Mario on the bass will be joined by the special guests for the evening - Patrick Rozario (accordian), Maarten Visser (saxophone) and Vikram (percussion).
