JOOSE WITH NO IDEA
Chennai audiences thrilled to a double-bill 'Groove' night at the
Vineyard Center with two bands playing - JOOSE and
NO IDEA.
JOOSE,
(Mario on the bass, Shayne as lead soloist, Robyn
on the drums and Ryan on the vocals) had the audience
on their feet with their characteristic 'own compositions'. Mario
who doubled as impromptu MC, did a 'sizzler' with his bass-vocal
solo. While Shayne freaked out with his funky lead solos and some
killer harmonics. Ryan with his new hair cut exploded towards the
end of the show with the Mission Impossible:2 theme, 'Take
a look around' from Limp Biskit. It was a treat to watch
Robyn just let loose on the drums. The highlight of the evening
was, JOOSE turning around their funky hit song 'Just to get loose'
into a reggae feel and before anyone could say "Reggae!" they went
back to the funky beat. Tremendous stuff indeed.
After the break it was time for NO IDEA. Nandita on the
vocals, stole the show with her talent to impersonate Alanis
Morisette. She took the cake when she took on Pearl Jam
and Iron Maiden! The crowd couldn't have asked for more,
as the combination of talent and warm stage presence had them spell
bound.
The
rest of the musicians were distinct themselves; Mahiar on
the bass with his histrionic mannerisms, Aum on the lead
guitar with his cool lead licks and an amazing original composition
(it was astounding stuff from a high-schooler). The other phenomenon
from school was Rodney on the drums, who though quite concealed
behind the drum kit, was tight and the talk of the show. With Donny
on the rhythms and Shayne on the keys, NO IDEA raised the mercury
level with some great performance.
The Vineyard Center is really kicking up the music scene in Chennai
this year and plans to have 'Groove' nights every month. The expectations
for this year's 'June Rock Out' festival is pretty high!
The proceeds of 'Groove' concerts go towards the community service
wing called Acts of Mercy.
