Shruthi's mainstay is the export of musical instruments
for bulk overseas orders. The instruments are made to order. Bharatnatyam

TANSEN - The Rock Shop
Sounds contradictory, doesn't it? Tansen (a Hindustani vocalist
of yore) and rock? But not when you know that, here in this shop,
is available, an Indian brand of rock guitars!
The shop, numbered 27, is on the II floor of Spencer's Plaza on
Mount Road.
Being the first exclusive electric guitar showroom in the city,
Tansen has become one of the hot spots with the guitar-playing crowd
of the city.
The idea is to offer world class, export-quality electric guitars
at affordable prices (which incidentally start at Rs.4800). Tansen
manufactures for Charvel Jackson, a popular foreign brand. That
explains how most equipment for their guitars is imported.
They offer a 2-year warranty on the instruments (which are made
at Tambaram). And also undertake repairs on their guitars. Amplifiers
and speakers are also available.
And if you are looking for references, Chennai's very own ace guitarist
Prasanna picked up two guitars from this shop.
The shop interiors seem to beckon the hardcore guitarist with its
psychedelic lighting and tantalizing guitars. And there's always
the possibility that you might walk in to see a jamming session
in progress.
