THE SRUTHILAYA

At The Sruthilaya buying classical musical instruments is more than just another purchase.

Established initially in Thanjavur in 1986, it was started in Chennai in 1994 by Lakshmanagoswami.

The Sruthilaya also exports musical instruments with Pest Control precautions to all parts of the world.

Sruthilaya’s specialty is the beautiful hand carved veenas whose price can go up to Rs.40,000/-. The material used here is Jack wood or Teak wood. Before carving, the wood is seasoned for two to three years to ward off white ants.

Their portable veena called Anna Mahalaya Veena is quite popular. This veena has the head of an annapakshi (swan) carved at the top end. Also popular is their portable Tambura called Jet Tambura, with parts made of PVC. Other than these, Sruthilaya deals in Percussion instruments, Wind instruments, Side effect instruments and String instruments. Dance items like salangai and nattuvanga thalam are also available. Cassettes, CDs and Carnatic music books are also on display.

The highlight of Sruthilaya is their uncompromising quality and after sales service.
