in 1991 as a children's stationery shop, Geeta's Collections
today has emerged as a one-stop-shop for women. Especially for the
working women, who are hard pressed for time.
From clothes to fashion accessories, sarees to readymade salwar
suits, nighties to dress material, jewellery to gift items, clothes
for new born to clothes for 16-year olds, hair accessories to make-up
material you name it and Geeta's has it. The wide range of dress
materials and sarees include chiffons, silks, cottons, batiks,
block prints, mangalagiris andkotas. Her saree range
starts from Rs 350/-. She also stores a small range of informal
gents shirts and t-shirts. Her range of this and that's
include foot mats, rugs, birthday party equipment, namely all
the decorative items required for a birthday party, paper plates
and cups, birthday caps etc, of which she stores samples. Interested
customers are welcome to place an order.
Apart
from the boutique, Geeta's also offers tailoring, right from stitching
blouses and salwar suits for adults to skirts for children, Geeta's
undertakes everything. According to Geeta Thadhani, who started
the place, 'the idea is that if a lady walks into my shop, she
should have all her needs met. She shouldn't have to go anywhere
else. If she comes into buy a saree, she can get all the other accessories
that go with it. She can get her blouse stitched here; she can get
the sari fall attached as well as get pico done'.
Another
value addition that Geeta offers is that she has two people working
in shifts with her, whom she sends to pick up clothes to be stitched
from the customer's place. The customer just has to call in and
Geeta will send her person to get the fabric and specifications.
That way, the customer need not come to Geeta's to place the order.
In the process the customer saves a lot of time. Right now Geeta's
services extend from the Nungambakkam area to Thiruvanmiyur. She
is planning to extend her services to more parts of the city slowly.
