as Chennai's ultimate show, Miss Chennai 2001 is to be held
on the 29th of December this year. Chennai - a land of temples,
sandy beaches, a land that produces the largest number of motor
vehicles and motion pictures in India, is also famous for its beautiful
young women. Miss Chennai 2001 is organised by Viba, an event
management company that specialises in corporate product launches,
fashion shows, beauty contest, jewellery shows, television shows,
dance and music shows. This event held every year provides a platform
for aspiring young models to showcase their talent.
The sub-events for Miss Chennai 2001 kicked off at Park Sheraton
on 19th December 2001. Plus White's 'Miss Body Beautiful'
sporting the Hawaiian theme stole the show and the winner for this
round was Amanda. It was followed by a contemporary classical
ballet titled 'tha ka dhi mi tha' by Aum.
 The
second sequence was Plus White's 'Miss Beautiful Skin', where
the contestants were sporting garments designed with reptile skin
in combination with black. This was followed by Jeffrey's
floor ballet titled 'Devil's Delight'`. The most interesting
and enjoyable sequence was TVS Scooty First Love's 'Miss
Charming'. This round was created such that the contestants
could exhibit their idea of first love in the form of a talent show
which included miming, dancing, music, art and poetry. The round
brought out the12 contestant's creativity and capacity to innovate.
The winner Anurithi stole the show with her mime. She also
won the Miss Beautiful Skin round.
The evening concluded with the crowning of the winners by actress
Maheshwari, who was the chief guest for the evening. The
panel of judges comprised of Ashok Doshi, MD, Helvetica,
Dr Kamala Selvaraj, Anil Nesari, Executive Director, Zeta
Cosmetics Private Limited, Bhuvana Ramalingam, Manager-External
Affairs, Ford India and Shalini Virmani, Interior
Designer and Stylist.
The event is sponsored by Plus White, TVS Scooty, The Helvetica,
Sony, Pothys and Marrybrown. The event is being held
in association with Star Vijay.
