EBENEZER
HOME OF SOCIAL OUTREACHES
Marching
ahead with a vision to work towards a healthy society, Ebenezer
Home of Social Outreaches is one such non- profit charitable
organisation that strives to uplift children from low socio-economic
background. The organisation is dedicated towards serving the poor
and the needy, those who have no sense of social belonging and are
sometimes considered liabilities to their families.
The Founder Stanley Rajan in 1986 picked up a couple of
orphan children and gave them a home. Later a place was rented to
accommodate more children and the home was officially registered
in 1992. The organisation now caters to children between the age
group of 2 and 17 through three projects namely Children Home,
Foster Care Home and Day Care Centre.
The
Children Home provides an environment where children can grow up
in love and security. The children live in spacious accommodation,
which is away from noise and pollution. There are 200 orphans and
semi-orphans in the age group of 5 to 15 years. Children are provided
with food, clothing, shelter and education.
At the Foster Home, children between 5 and 17 years of age from
poor families are cared in their own homes. These families cannot
afford to send their children to school or provide them with adequate
nutrition. The project ensures that children are provided with education,
nutritious food and clothing. The organisation now strives to educate
more children through Foster Care.
Children
below 5 years from poor families are ensured good care in every
area of their development in the Day Care Centre. The centre provides
the children with a well-balanced nutritious food according to their
requirements. The children are given sound pre-school education through
playway method. The staffs are well trained to take care of these
children. A plan is anvil to start local day care centres in villages.
Once the children reach the age of 15, they are referred to various
vocational training centres to enable them for a livelihood so that
they can support themselves. Even funds are raised for children
who have the aptitude to go to college.
Vijay, with a B.Com and computer background along with the
staff members, takes care of these children with utmost love and
affection. The children who come to the home are of different categories,
like those who have been picked up from public places including
bus stands and railway stations, or those who have been referred
to by any of the inmates.
The centre generates revenue by allowing an individual or a group
to sponsor a child. Once a child is sponsored, the concerned person
or the group will receive a photograph with the history of the child.
Donations are also accepted. The donations are exempted from tax
under the 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
In the near future the centre plans to start a tailoring unit,
establish a primary health centre to offer free medical advice and
treatment to the local community, develop a home for the physically
handicapped and a rehabilitation centre for children affected by
natural disasters, sex abuse, AIDS and leprosy.
