BRICK MAKING - A PHOTO FEATURE


The following scenes were captured at a brick kiln near Porur. These brick kilns are found near Porur and Tambaram.

The sand being dug up for making clay. Hard work under the hot sun

The sand is mixed with water. It's time to make some rhythm with the feet.

The clay is given a thorough mixing after being left to dry for some time.

Well it's time to be laid in the mould. The clay being given one final mixing with the hand.

The kiln is all ready. The thatched roofing will be removed at the top and the fire lit and left to burn for days.
