Established by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Tamil Nadu
Small Industries Development Corporation -TANSIDCO or
SIDCO, as it is otherwise known, has the specific objective
of promoting the development of Small Scale Industries(SSIs)
and the promotion of industrial development in the backward
and underdeveloped areas of the State.
A
prime function of SIDCO is the formation of potential growth centres
in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Groups of prospective entrepreneurs
or Associations with viable projects are assisted to develop private
industrial estates. They are also provided with escort services
like term-loan assistance for Land, Building and Machinery, State
capital subsidy etc. Raw material Depots at strategic locations
in Tamil Nadu supply raw materials like Iron and Steel, Coke, Paraffin
Wax etc, to small scale industries all over the State. SIDCO also
helps in the procurement and distribution of scarce raw materials
to SSI units.
Well established SSI units at SIDCO industrial estates can avail
hire purchase machinery and equipment leasing schemes. Long lease
and easy installment terms encourage expansion and modernisation.
SIDCO also has a Marketing Assistance Scheme, which helps Small
Scale Industries to tap the market potential in the State Government's
departments and undertakings. SIDCO has been identified by the Government
of India as an Export House. Buyers are identified, price negotiated,
samples sent for approval and allied banking credit facilities arranged
for export quality goods.
