STATE INDUSTRIES PROMOTION CORPORATION OF TAMILNADU LTD (SIPCOT)

A new process of industrial development in the past few years has placed Tamil Nadu once again as the most industrialised State in India. Tamil Nadu has now become one of the most preferred industrial destinations for investment in India. The various industrial development corporations like, the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamilnadu Ltd (SIPCOT), provide world class infrastructure to entrepreneurs for the setting up of new ventures.

Established in 1971, SIPCOT has the responsibility of promoting medium and large industries in the state. It has successfully developed industrial complexes and technology parks. Channelising incentives from the State Government, it provides industry- specific state capital subsidies and escort services to medium and major industries. It has helped foster industrial development in backward and under developed areas. It also provides institutional finance with refinance assistance from Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) towards meeting investment in Fixed Assets .

SIPCOT has so far developed 11 industrial complexes, 4 industrial parks, 4 industrial growth centres and one industrial township, spread all over the state, including industrially backward areas like Sivagangai and Thiruvannamalai. Since its inception, SIPCOT has been instrumental in generating employment for around 1,57,200 people. Nearly 5,489 acres of land have been allotted to 902 industries in its complexes. Out of which, 667 industries are functioning effectively.

Among its proud achievements is the new IT park at Siruseri on the old Mahabalipuram Road. Situated around 30 kms from Chennai - a 15 minute drive away from Adyar, this software technology park boasts uninterrupted water and power supply, with a separate sub-station, wide roads, good street lighting, drainage system and communication facilities with a dedicated Telephone exchange. On the cards is a high-speed data connectivity facility with radio link to the earth station.
