Designed specifically for lifestyle of seniors, the retirement apartments will have facilities like stretcher lifts for emergency evacuations. Additional features include, being planned in line with the themed community, centrally air-conditioned medical and nursing facilities, assisted care and luxurious air-conditioned dining facilities.

"At Serene, we believe that life starts after retirement. The challenge is to break the age-old belief that elders should be subjected to a particular lifestyle, which mainly encompasses practicing religious rites and carrying on a very non-active life," said A Sridharan, managing director of Covai Property Centre (India).

According to Sridharan, the project has been designed keeping in mind the comfort of the senior citizens. Serene Retirement Communities are one of the first to implement the concept of affordable retirement housing in India: They have three more new townships planned in Coimbatore, Sri City and Pondicherry. Covai Property Centre also plans to launch similar projects in Mysore, Hyderabad and Pune by early 2012.

Serene Adinath will be a part of Adinath Shanthinikethan gated community, which will be spread over 8.6 acres. The project will be completed in three phases. The prices would start from Rs 19.9 lakh for a retirement apartment. The size of the apartments would range from 517 sq ft to 1,063 sq ft.

Like other Serene projects, Se¬rene Adinath will be completely self-contained. There are also facilities like a modern central kitchen with dining area, which will serve freshly cooked vegetarian food. A medical centre with a resident or visiting doctor, resident nurse and a physiotherapist with a fully equipped ambulance will be available to take care of emergency medical needs of the residents.

The project will also offer facilities for several indoor games, from cards to billiards and table tennis, besides an indoor badminton court and a swimming pool. In addition, it will have a fully-equipped gym, an indoor mini-theatre and open air theatre for entertainment options.
